Palette Tales sends an artwork preview before printing. The preview is generally delivered within 1–2 business days and gives you an opportunity to review likeness, composition, visible details, and the selected artwork direction before production begins. Business days are Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.
Order submitted: provide the clearest source material
Start with one clear primary photo. The artist should be able to see the face, eyes, markings, and expression. If an important detail is hidden, add a supporting reference that clarifies that feature rather than a large group of conflicting images.
The pet portrait photo checklist can help you choose the source image before the preview stage begins.
Within 1–2 business days: receive the artwork preview

Review the pet’s recognizable features first. Then look at crop, balance, background direction, and any selected text. Use the preview to judge the artwork, and check the selected product listing for material, size, and finish details.
The Customer Preview Gallery provides customer artwork examples that can help you understand the preview experience.
During the review stage: request specific revisions

Palette Tales supports unlimited edits during the custom portrait preview stage. That applies to the preview process, not to changes after approval or after production has begun.
Useful feedback names the feature and points to the clearest reference. “Please make the left ear slightly darker to match the second photo” is easier to apply than “the face looks wrong.” Review likeness, markings, eye color, crop, spacing, and text separately so each request is understandable.
Before the 48-hour window ends: respond or request help
If no revision request is received within 48 hours after the preview is sent, the preview is treated as approved and the order moves into production. If multiple previews are provided and no selection is made, one preview is selected by default to continue production.
Check the preview promptly. Contact Palette Tales before the review window ends if you need a revision, need clarification, or are not satisfied with the artwork.
Refund boundary: before approval and production
If you are not satisfied with the artwork preview, you may request a refund before approving the preview—or before the 48-hour review window ends and the order enters production. This is not a preview-before-payment offer, a pay-later preview, or an unconditional refund promise after approval or production has started.
Approval: the artwork moves into production
Approval means the preview stage is complete. The custom pet portrait ordering guide explains the broader purchase journey; use this page for preview timing and review decisions.
The process is therefore: submit clear references, receive the preview in 1–2 business days, request any needed edits during the review stage, and respond before the 48-hour window ends. When you are ready to compare current options, use the Custom Pet Portrait Collection.
